Ready for red this season? - It’s sexy, bold, wacky and even has bit of mystery about it. Red seems to be the colour of the moment abroad with new names being added on fast to the celebrity red head brigade. English actor Tina O'Brien has painted her hair a fiery red. Kim Kardashian’s sister Khloe Kardashian was also seen sporting red tresses at the recent People’s Choice Awards. Even X Factor finalist Cher Lloyd couldn’t resist copying the red head trend. She was recently spotted sporting a fiery hue of red. Rihanna had pioneered the trend with a shocking red and Cheryl Cole too, went red head soon after.
Red locks would soon become a big trend in India, predict hair experts. “Red has a young and energetic feel to it. It’s become a rage internationally, and will soon become popular in India,” says hairstylist Jawed Habib. Hairstylist Rod Anker, creative director at Kim Robinson Salon at the Aman Hotel says there’s no reason why Indian fashionistas should shy away from such a gorgeous colour. “There’s a red out there for everyone. Red can look great on Indian girls provided they chose a colour that enhances their skin tone.”

Choosing the correct shade of red can be a tad tricky. An in-depth conversation with your stylist can help you pick up a shade that would look great on you. “The colour must suit your skin tone, hair type and cut, your face shape and your personality,” says Anker.
“Red looks stunning on young people, students and those in the fashion world. It may not look that great on somebody in the corporate world or the government sector,” says Habib.
Tread with caution
Go slow with the colour if you are not too sure about the look. “First timers should go for streaks rather than an all-over. You can also try a spray colour if you are not very sure if you would like to retain the look,” says Habib.
Opt for a shade of red that looks more natural. Steer clear of red shades that have too much orange or purple in them unless you are dressing up for Halloween. Copper, auburn and strawberry are safer shades.
